Importance of a Strong Immune System
A strong immune system is the most important bodily system for preserving your dog’s health and preventing disease. Disease begins when the dogs body is either not absorbing (or not receiving from its food) the nutrients it needs to maintain the proper functioning of the immune system, or is failing to expel the toxins (or diseased cells) which keep the immune system from doing its job.
Poor diet, stress, lack of exercise (or too much), toxins in the environment and water, harmful bacteria/ viruses, excessive vaccination, overuse of antibiotics, and other drugs all weaken your dogs immunity.
A compromised immunity starts to develop long before a serious diagnosis is made. Some studies have now confirmed that diseases such as ulcerative colitis, cancer, allergies, heart disease, Addison’s disease, dental disease, arthritis, kennel cough, mange, asthma, autoimmune disease ( i.e. hyper/hypothyroidism, diabetes), cognitive disorder/senility, depression, anxiety, degenerative myelopathy/posterior paralysis (dysfunction of the rear limbs) in dogs, might all arise from (or linked to ) imbalances in the immune system.
Have you ever wondered why is it that only some dogs are susceptible to common viruses and bacteria? It is the dog with a strong and optimally functioning immune system that is able to resist, or overcome faster, any ‘contagious’ virus or bacteria. A stressed out immune system is more vulnerable to viral, bacterial contamination.
Dosage:
Ideally, administer this at the earliest onset of symptoms. Herbs do take time to
build in your dogs system, so do not expect the results to be immediate. It can
take from several days up to a week or more to know if the herbal remedy is effective
(and of course, depending upon the severity of the issue being treated and the overall
vitality of your dog).
More frequent dosage i.e. 3 times per day is typically more
effective than a large dose just once per day. The herbs need to remain and build
in your dog’s system. Please remember that disease is not a stagnant process. It’s
important to be aware what dosage alterations need to be made as the dogs condition
changes.
